It is done: Austria has a new Federal Chancellor, and thus, among other things, a new Minister of the Interior. As part of the solemn inauguration of the partly new government by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, not only Neo-Chancellor Karl Nehammer took over his new office as the most powerful man in the country, he was also followed by a determined Gerhard Karner (54) as the new Interior Minister. He was determined in his inaugural address and quickly made it clear that he would honor and continue to pursue the course of his predecessor.
Declaration of war against fascism and migration
Gerhard Karner declared war on both fascism and uncontrolled migration. Two topics that, as is well known, were also of great concern to Nehammer. Gerhard Karner turned not only to the people, but also directly to his predecessor and his team: “Dear Karl”, he said, “I can promise I will serve you and your team”, the new interior minister not only entered an official, but a personal promise.
