Due to the strict Corona regulations, the swearing-in of the Federal Chancellor, the Interior, Education, Foreign and Finance Minister and the new State Secretary in the Maria-Theresien-Saal must take place completely with FFP2 masks. The mouthguard may only be removed briefly for the important sentence “I vow”. The politicians must also keep a minimum distance from each other.
Traditionally, the new ministers are also accompanied to the swearing-in by their significant other. To what extent this will be the case on Monday is questionable, because only a few people are allowed on site. International TV teams, for example, have to stay outside. The 2G plus rule applies to everyone present. The PCR test must not be older than 48 hours.
And this is how the process looks like: Alexander Schallenberg is removed from his position as Federal Chancellor, then Karl Nehammer signs the certificate shortly after 1 p.m. He is the new head of government. Then the other ÖVP government members are sworn in, including Schallenberg as the new old foreign minister. You can find out what the new government will look like here.
