1469 to 110, that’s how big the difference in incidence between unvaccinated and vaccinated people, said Bavarian ruler Markus Söder (CSU) recently on Twitter. But research by the WELT under the title “Pandemic of the ignorant” prove: Söder apparently did not speak the truth. The quoted counting method of the Prime Minister is seriously falsified and lacks any scientific and statistical basis. Once again it becomes clear: The narrative of the “pandemic of the unvaccinated” is not tenable.
From Max Bergmann
Prime Minister Markus Söder spoke on November 18th via the social network Twitter. He regularly uses the microblogging service to scare his followers by spreading propaganda-like horror reports. “Unfortunately, the corona infections are increasing dramatically, especially among unvaccinated people. There is a direct correlation between low vaccination rates and high infection rates. So please get vaccinated. Only vaccination helps. ” He backed up his claim with a graph according to which the seven-day incidence of the unvaccinated was 1469 and that of the vaccinated was just 110. A dramatic difference, one would think. But research by WELT reporter Tim Röhn shows that the counting method is extremely wrong and unscientific.
Vaccination status “unknown” for Söder synonymous with “not vaccinated”
As has now become known, the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) apparently does not even know the vaccination status of people who tested positive for the coronavirus in very many cases. This data does not seem to be transmitted on a regular basis. Instead of showing these numbers factually and correctly as “unknown vaccination status”, these cases were simply classified as “unvaccinated” – Of course, without clearing up this grievance. Söder did not say a word about this, instead again pilloried unvaccinated people, devoid of any scientific facts and data. At the same time he increased the pressure on the unvaccinated and again demanded a general compulsory vaccination – even for children and adolescents from 12 years.
Serious imbalance: the incidence of unvaccinated people is highly falsified
This incorrect way of counting does not seem to be an isolated case on the one hand, and on the other hand it is more serious than one might think. According to a spokesman for the authorities, a total of 81,782 cases of positive tests were reported for the week before November 24th. Of these, 9641 people had so-called complete vaccination protection, 14,652 were unvaccinated according to the data and the vaccination status of a total of 57,489 people was simply “unknown”. According to the LGL, these 57,489 positive test results with an unknown vaccination status were then assigned to the group of unvaccinated persons – with considerable consequences for the calculation and the level of the incidence value for unvaccinated persons. In Bavaria are currently 67.1 percent of the population (Status: December 3, 2021) fully vaccinated. Based on the statistics alone, it can be assumed that a significant proportion of the 57,489 positive tests without a reported vaccination status also came from vaccinated persons. Compared to the WORLD A spokesman for the Hamburg Senate also confirmed that the same system for calculating the incidence value for unvaccinated people is also used in the north German Hanseatic city. It is not unlikely that this practice will be used across the board and that the incidence value for unvaccinated people will be manipulated into high levels with full awareness.
Opposition in the state parliament pissed off: FPD calls for “unreserved clarification”
While the governing parties CSU and Free Voters skilfully keep a low profile, there is criticism from the Bavarian opposition. Martin Hagen, FDP parliamentary group leader in the Bavarian state parliament, called for “unreserved clarification” in the WELT. He criticized sharply and unequivocally: “The suspicion that state authorities are deliberately giving the public the wrong picture with distorted statistics weighs heavily.” Addressing Prime Minister Markus Söder, the Liberal also expressed a terrible suspicion: “Did Söder know that the numbers with which he justifies his policy have been manipulated?” If this proves to be true, this would be a new high point in the escalation and the dispute about a possible general vaccination against SARS-CoV2.
“Falling into old patterns” – incidence value unsuitable for assessing the pandemic situation
Numerous experts emphasize that the stiff cramping to the seven-day incidence value of the reported positive tests is not suitable for assessing the pandemic situation. The value does not reflect the situation in intensive care units, nor does it indicate whether and how many people are actually sick. Nonetheless, politicians continue to adhere to this unsuitable procedure to decide on coercive measures or to extend them. In Bavaria, for example, after a forced break of almost 1.5 years, bars and clubs were barely open for 8 weeks under 2G conditions until they had to close again. From an incidence value of 350, there is a layer in the shaft for so-called dance pleasures. Philipp Schleef, operator of several clubs in Bavaria, explained to the WELT: “A technically well-equipped shop like a discotheque cannot be opened overnight without further ado.” A constant opening and closing is “deadly” for his branch. He accuses the government of falling into old patterns – after all, there has long been talk of decoupling the assessment of the pandemic situation from the incidence.
