With the historian Polaschek, a professor moves in again as education minister after Fassmann. Like Faßmann, the rector of the University of Graz comes directly from university management. The legal scholar was Vice-Rector for 16 years. In 2019 he was elected to the top of the university for the second time.
His main focus was on contemporary legal history and research on federalism. Since 2006 he has been President of the Post-War Justice Research Center. From 2003 to 2019, as Director of Studies, he was responsible for the concerns of the more than 30,000 students.
Polaschek was born in Bruck / Mur in 1965. In 2011 he was defeated by Christa Neuper in the election of the rector. In the second attempt in 2019, he made the leap to the top. Polaschek lives in Graz with his wife and their two children who were brought into their marriage.
