The group is now rewarding its around 20,000 employees for the good result. The employees who work for Lego in over 40 countries will get three additional days of vacation at the end of 2021. As the management has now announced, sales in the first half of the year increased by 50 percent to 3 billion euros compared to the same period in the previous year. The profit even climbed by an unbelievable 140 percent to 850 million euros. The end of the corona lockdowns in many countries does not seem to have slowed down the desire to play.
Sustainability is a major challenge for Lego. This year a first prototype was developed from recycled PET bottles. “A real stage win,” said a Lego spokesman. But it will be a while before the stone conquers children’s rooms in large numbers. “It’s about durability, quality and safety.” All packaging should be made of paper by 2025. However, the company is already climate neutral thanks to CO2 offsetting.
