In the eXXpress studio, Heinz-Christian Strache will speak for the first time about the sudden withdrawal of ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) from politics. He will not only share his emotions with the audience, but also how he assesses this resignation and its background. Finally, two and a half years ago, the turquoise-blue coalition suddenly collapsed. Do some things now appear in a different light?
Austria’s politics have become more unpredictable. An apparently stable coalition broke up within 24 hours in May 2019. The occasion was the publication of the short Ibiza video and the dispute that broke out a little later about the resignation of Interior Minister Herbert Kickl, which Kurz had called for. What was previously almost unthinkable for most citizens became reality in a very short time: A popular coalition was ended and the country slipped into new elections.
The events were also drastic for the outgoing Vice-Chancellor and ex-FPÖ boss Strache, who has not yet made the political comeback. But did the events of that time also have short-term consequences in the medium and long term? The former top politician will talk about all of this and much more in the eXXpress studio.
