After Laurien Scheinecker was caught at the wheel with 1.2 per mille, she will resign her chairmanship in the Wels SP municipal council group in December. This came out of a clarifying conversation with party chairman Klaus Schinninger. He suggested to her “that she has to make a mark on her own initiative.” Scheinecker told the Upper Austrian News that she understands that too.
The politician is stepping back into the second row and swapping roles with the former Vice Mayor Silvia Huber. Scheinecker becomes deputy chairman of the parliamentary group. “We really wanted to re-appoint women to the parliamentary group chairmanship. Silvia Huber is the most experienced in the party, ”emphasizes Schinninger.
Shortly after the municipal council election, Laurien Scheinecker had to surrender her driver’s license for four months because of drinking and driving. She also failed to inform the party leadership about her misconduct. The politician denied a resignation in November. “One should leave the church in the village. I did not cause any damage to property or personal injury. I am also not the Federal Chancellor, but a part-time local politician, ”said Scheinecker.
