It was a very fruitful exchange, said Health Minister Mückstein. Vaccination is the “way out of the pandemic”. The decision to be vaccinated was not an easy one for him, but it was “necessary” and “no alternative” so that there would be no fifth wave and no further lockdowns.
This week there will be rounds of talks before the law is to be examined for four weeks from December 6th. At the beginning of February, the vaccination should apply as planned. “Please do not wait for this law to be passed,” Mückstein appealed to citizens to vaccinate now.
Karoline Edtstadler also discussed age and the amount of the penalty for compulsory vaccination at the round table. But there has not yet been a decision. According to the ÖVP minister, primary school children will probably not be subject to compulsory vaccination. Many experts would advocate an age from 14 years, that will be discussed.
