As an employee of Wiener Linien has now described to the eXXpress, there are currently problems adhering to the timetables because many colleagues cannot appear on duty due to illness or corona quarantine. For this reason, the public transport frequency is now occasionally thinned out or not driven the entire route outside of peak times.
Wiener Linien rejects this representation on request: “Despite lockdown, we drive at the tightest intervals and thus continue to keep Vienna mobile.” Occasional, illness-related absences of employees, e.g. due to cold, flu, etc. would occur – as with any other company – again and again, but “if these occur at short notice, one or the other course can be canceled.” But that is “the absolute exception”. Sometimes the failures can be intercepted at short notice by substitute drivers.
