Die US-Soap General Hospital was broadcast for the first time in 1963 and has been running for an incredible 58 years – so the show even made it into the Guinness Book of Records. The series is still very popular, especially in the United States: probably also because many of the actors have been accompanying viewers for decades. However, two actors who had appeared on the soap since the 1990s have now been “let go”. You had not complied with the vaccination requirement on the set.
Steve Burton played the character Jason Morgan from 1991 to 2012 and from 2017 to 2021. Now it’s over: like the actor in one yesterday Video on Instagram announced his participation in the ABC series has ended. Although he applied for a medical and religious exemption from the compulsory vaccination, both were rejected. “That hurts, but for me it’s also about personal freedom”, Burton said on the video, adding that in his eyes no one should lose their existence through something like that.
The actor is nevertheless highly professional, thanks for the many years that he has been able to spend with and at General Hospital and, according to his own statements, is looking forward to the future. True to the motto: A door closes – a door opens.
A critical actor had to leave before that
The same fate as Steve Burton had previously befell Ingo Rademacher, the since 1996 regularly impersonated the character Jasper Jackson at General Hospital. On November 22nd, the last episode with Rademacher was broadcast because he did not get vaccinated despite the compulsory vaccination for cast and crew. The actor and family man is very open about his view of the Covid vaccination and regularly triggers militant vaccination advocates with his clear words, which is why #fireIngo even trended on Twitter in the meantime. In response, the actor stopped on Instagram fest:
To all fanatics who demanded my dismissal from GH and had #fireIngo trenden 🙏 (thanks for the press, by the way) because of a factually correct contribution from me. Getting vaccinated won’t stop you from spreading the virus. That’s straight from the CDC. Prescribing a vaccine is wrong, but especially one that does not help stop the spread, this is nothing but crazy talk. If you want to take the vaccine, take it. Just be aware that you are doing it for yourself, not to save others. You are not a hero ️🤷♂️
Gossip magazines describe such statements as incorrect information, but Rademacher is factually right. The results of a CDC study have only just proven again that vaccinated and unvaccinated people are equally infectious and vaccinated people contribute to the infection process just as much as those who reject the controversial shot.
But Rademacher also earns a lot of respect and thanks from his followers for openly advocating freedom of medical decision-making. In the end, artists live from their fans: Against this background, Ingo Rademacher will hardly have to fear for his existence despite the loss of his General Hospital role.
