A few months before the general elections in spring 2022, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic is now also trying to increase the birth rate in the Balkan country. “We are dwindling as a nation,” Vucic said at a press conference on Wednesday, at which he promised higher state financial aid for every first child.
Instead of the previous 100,000 dinars (850.53 euros) for their first child, young parents are to receive three times as much from the state treasury – 300,000 dinars (2,551.59 euros). The new regulation is to come into force on January 1, 2022.
