The impending vaccination requirement – not only for health workers, but also for the general public – is driving more and more people to the barricades in Germany as well. While around 9,000 health system employees in Austria have already announced that they will stop working if they are required to be vaccinated, initial resistance is also forming in Germany. For example in Thuringia.
There, around 150 nurses gathered in front of the yesterday, Tuesday Saalfeld Hospitalto demonstrate against compulsory vaccination. More than 300 employees would give up their job if a vaccination requirement came into force instead of being blackmailed into the Covid shot: For the medical care of the local citizens, this lack of specialists would mean a more than severe loss. The personnel situation is extremely tense anyway – in fact, unvaccinated employees cannot be replaced. Accordingly, the health system would noticeably falter.
The clinic employees are calling for an end to the pressure on unvaccinated people. The following video shows recordings of the protest. The message to politics is clear:
“Let’s just fucking do our precious job as caregivers, because a person’s worth doesn’t depend on their vaccination status!”
Previously, the Thuringian Left have already spoken out in favor of a general compulsory vaccination – although study data have only just shown that Thuringia, with its relatively low vaccination rate, has one of the lowest excess mortality rates compared to other German federal states. A study has shown that a high vaccination rate in all federal states was associated with a higher excess mortality.
