On Wednesday, another chapter was written in the increasingly thick act around the drug trial of the alleged mastermind behind the explosive “Ibiza video”, Julian H.: As he reported to eXXpress, H., who had been in U- Imprisoned, responsible for the regional court of St.Pölten again since Tuesday. The judiciary accuses H. of having distributed cocaine to politicians, business partners, accomplices and yes, even to the “shy oligarch” for years. The presumption of innocence applies; the defendant denies having committed the offenses of which he is accused. Several witnesses had been summoned since Tuesday to establish the truth in the fourth date of the lay judge’s hearing, but the next bang came on Wednesday: the drug trial was postponed again – for an indefinite period.
In the next step, a witness living in Serbia will be asked via video link whether this will happen in 2021, but it is questionable. The questioning of one of the most important witnesses in the trial, namely that of the investigator Prof. Gert Schmidt, was continued as planned on Wednesday and lasted – also to Schmidt’s surprise – only about 1.5 hours.
The eXXpress met Schmidt immediately after his questioning at the St. Pölten Regional Court and was able to gain his first impressions and assessments of the process in an exclusive interview. Schmidt thinks he was “one of the last witnesses” who were questioned in the process and is openly surprised at the “idiosyncratic defense strategy” of Julian H. Schmidt’s lawyer hopes to have contributed to the establishment of the truth, but a legitimate assessment of the Giving the outcome of the process is not yet possible at this point in time. However, should the court find Julian H., who is still presumed innocent, guilty, the accused and alleged “Ibizagate” wire-puller face up to 10 years imprisonment.
You can see the complete interview with Prof. Gert Schmidt on the drug trial around Julian H. at 7:00 pm and in “10 to 8” only on eXXpressTV – online and on channel 170 in the Magenta cable network!
