The vast majority of Austrians just want peace and quiet from this government. At least that’s my impression when I talk to people about their motives for vaccination. Many would meanwhile let everything be injected into their bodies just to remain unmolested by the state. It’s the same with me, by the way. I let every substance I ask for, just so I don’t get caught up in the clutches of Mr. Schallenberg and the like, who, in the style of the feudal gentleman rider, threaten to “pull the reins” on me. Community, cohesion, solidarity – everything is destroyed by a disgusting culture of debate in which everyone is treated as Nazis or idiots who formulate a critical thought on the prevailing vaccination policy or who do not jump right away when Mr. Mückstein whistles.
The political elite of our day is as rude and bossy as it is uneducated and incompetent. The political staff is obviously the result of a negative selection. The best example of this: the Minister of Health. He runs around in white sneakers like Joschka Fischer once did, rides through Vienna smoking on his bicycle, jumps through every tire the ÖVP holds in front of him and at the end of the day escapes from journalists’ questions. Obviously, the general practitioner is trying his hand at a revival of Joschka Fischer, who shook German parliamentarism with his casual outfit. But if, 30 years after Fischer, at a time when you can win the song contest, when you as a man with average singing talent put on a dress and stick a fake beard, you think you can impress people with this old Provo humiliation, you will not go down in history as a nonconformist, but as a ridiculous figure.
In general, the renaissance of political authoritarianism seems to have awakened an abundance of strange figures, all of which could come from grotesques like the physicists of Dürrenmatt, where in the end the insane turn out to be the healthy and the only really crazy is the doctor. But the authoritarian character doesn’t just slip into fools among medical professionals. The priesthood also takes part in the competition for the crown of the greatest ignoramus, namely in the person of the cathedral priest of St. Stephen in Vienna. He has no sympathy for the unvaccinated and finds it worthy and right when they are excluded. If you have been moving exclusively in the Viennese crowd for years, only sitting at the table of the rich and privileged and being completely exhausted, then it is only logical if the apostolic poverty movement of St. Francis, who himself hugged lepers, falls out of consciousness. Incidentally, the Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben would say that the case of the cathedral priest of St. Stephen is not an isolated case, but nothing more than an allegorical representation of a structural deficit of the Catholic Church as a whole, which always forgets its moral doctrine when it comes to accommodation through accommodation the secular powers can provide advantages. The church and its cathedral priest should write behind their ears that for a Christian to renounce one’s neighbor means to renounce one’s faith. But of this there should be only a faint shadow in the fashion clergy anyway.
While we are with Agamben, he speaks of the fact that medicine and its representatives are currently being sacralized and that medical science is now offering itself to people in the form of a kind of health religion in order to realize the religious needs after the decline of Christianity. And just like the priest in the past, so today doctors and virologists are senders of a transcendent truth that does not tolerate contradiction. Those who do not submit to the truth of the religion of health will be grilled, not at the stake as in the past, but in the forums of digital capital or the torture chambers of a media scene that is largely aligned. An Austrian journalist who has obviously completely succumbed to biopolitical despotism and pays homage to it wherever she can, then expressed herself in a tweet that she was downright euphoric about the fact that lockdown and mandatory vaccination are unanimously propagated in all of the country’s media and critical opinions are marginalized. So much for the democratic spirit of the intellectual crème de la crème of journalism.
The judiciary is also sacred. Anyone who criticizes them will be read the riot act by the Federal President personally. At the same time, however, there are more and more examples of partisan attitudes in the judicial system. For example, a public prosecutor hangs up a caricature in an agency that is currently investigating the former Federal Chancellor, which shows him as Pinocchio with a long, lying nose. I can provide a personal example on the subject of political justice. A long time ago, in a debate, I referred to a right-wing activist as “brown”. There was a negotiation. Before the trial, my lawyer told me I had nothing to fear, the judge was a green man. Accordingly, the plaintiff was then actually ironed down.
But even the saints, as we saw with the cathedral priest at St. Stephen’s, often get an unholy word away. And so a lawyer, constitutional lawyer Heinz Maier, followed in the pastor’s footsteps and demanded the compulsory isolation of unvaccinated people. It runs cold down your spine when you hear how easily the lawyer uses the terms coercion and isolation. If language creates reality, as the Pomo left believe, then there is consciously or unconsciously someone at work who is working on the renaissance of the authoritarian security state.
But the worst thing about the less empathic debates about compulsory vaccination, isolation and lockdown is the lust for the state of emergency and the oppression, disenfranchisement and exclusion of people, especially sweet, moralizing preachers of an inclusive society. This is where the authoritarian character acts, who falls into a sadomasochistic ecstasy when he himself is suppressed and at the same time he is allowed to suppress and humiliate others. Many participants in this debate should be given a voucher for a psychiatrist of their choice free of charge.
PS .: In May 2020, the Astra Zeneca vaccine was considered completely safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Today, six months later, the use of the vaccine is not recommended. The risk to young children cannot be excluded.
