Kraemmer was born in Vienna on October 24, 1933. After studying singing at the Vienna Music Academy, he made his debut at the Landestheater Saarbrücken in 1962. After further stations in Germany, he returned to his hometown in the early 1970s, where he was a member of the Vienna Volksoper ensemble. From 1971 to 1999 he performed over 1,500 performances in 65 different roles for the opera house. He played for example Baron Zeta in “The Merry Widow”, Frank and Frosch in “Die Fledermaus” or Bartolo in “The Marriage of Figaro”.
He also took on many roles at the Vienna State Opera. From 1968 to 1981 he appeared at the Salzburg Festival, and in 1984 at the Bregenz Festival as Baron Weps in the “Bird Trader”. He became known to a wide television audience through his work as an actor. From 1996 to 2006 he played the porter Josef Schimek in the television series “Schlosshotel Orth”. He was also often in front of the camera for the “crime scene” “Kottan investigated” and “Tohuwabohu”.
