Austria’s ski women will fight this Saturday and tomorrow Sunday at the slalom season opener in Levi around the first podium. The first contender is world champion Katharina Liensberger, whose very successful run began a year ago in Finland. Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova will be there again
Austria’s for Levi nominated slalom specialists trained for three days in Kaabdalis in Sweden under good conditions and arrived in the rain. In the slalom doubles, the weather should be much better. Liensberger has largely cured her cold from Lech / Zürs, but reduced the intensity a little while training in Sweden.
“Yes, the goal was to follow them in full juice Levi to bring ”, said head of technology coach Johannes Zöchling. “In the end, the difference between a good and a very good result is whether I bring the power to the ski or not.
Liensberger was in a year ago with two third places Levi started the slalom season well, then won the World Cup gold in February and, at the end of the season in Aare and Lenzerheide, also won their first World Cup victories. Fourth place in Jasna was her worst result of the season. Liensberger became the second Austrian alongside Marlies Raich, who won the slalom World Cup gold and the World Cup ball in one season.
