The participants in the rally repeatedly called for the resignation of the conservative Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. They also chanted: “No surrender!”
The protest was primarily directed against the latest pandemic control measures that came into force on Tuesday. According to this, official buildings are only allowed to be entered by people who have either been vaccinated, recovered or tested. An initiative by those against vaccinations and measures had called for the rally. Several prominent representatives of right-wing populist and right-wing extremist parties and organizations also took part.
In Croatia, the number of corona infections has recently risen sharply. Only 46.5 percent of the population are fully vaccinated. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants was 789 on Saturday, less than in Austria with the current 1049.9. In the past seven days, an average of 58 people died of Covid-19 in Croatia every day.
