The FPÖ boss is currently in quarantine for 14 days due to a positive corona test. Nevertheless, Kickl found time to comment on Felix Gottwald’s open letter. On Monday, Gottwald sharply criticized the federal government. He lost all trust in politics. “Division, agitation, discrimination – these are the government imperatives of the hour.” Sports minister Werner Kogler is also attacked: “As sports minister, it is up to you to set levers in motion that promote and not prevent exercise and (popular) sport in what is probably the greatest health crisis of our time.”
Kickl said in a statement: “The three-time Olympic champion Felix Gottwald expresses what all of Austria thinks.” But it wouldn’t be Kickl if he didn’t have sharp words left in the direction of the government: “When will Schallenberg, Kogler and Mückstein finally realize that the government has gambled away all of their trust? It is over, you turquoise-green prisoners and dividers of our society! Finally clear the way!
The Green Sports Minister Werner Kogler also responded to Gottwald’s criticism: “” All those who do not want to be vaccinated can and of course do sports. Until further notice, however, within your own four walls or in public space, at a distance from others, so that the risk of infection for yourself and others is minimized. ” Kogler also appreciates Gottwald’s contribution to the culture of movement in Austria. Nevertheless, he emphasized: “Our mission as politics is to protect the population.”
