The Bavarian ruler Markus Söder (CSU) also called for further strict restrictions on citizens’ freedom at a press conference in Munich on Sunday. As the Greens board member Robert Habeck has already made clear, Söder also wants to adhere to the nationwide state of emergency.

After the federal chairman of the Greens, Robert Habeck, spoke out in favor of the continuation of a strict corona compulsory regime, Markus Söder has now also made a similar statement. The Bavarian Prime Minister said at a press conference on Sunday that the situation was in danger of slipping away without citing any evidence. Ending the epidemic of national importance was “the wrong way in every respect”. He also made it clear: “The rules would have to be significantly tightened and adapted”. The so-called traffic light parties from the SPD, Greens and FDP agreed not to extend the emergency and the de facto state of emergency beyond November.
Söder calls for the exclusion of unvaccinated citizens
Söder also called for the exclusion of all unvaccinated citizens in Germany. Most recently, the Berlin Senator for Health, Dilek Kalayci (SPD) shocked: On Twitter, she recommended vaccinated people to break off all contact with unvaccinated people, also and especially in private. There is a need for nationwide uniform rules as well as “additional instruments” such as contact restrictions for unvaccinated people and compulsory vaccination for certain professional groups, as Robert Habeck (Greens) already demanded. Habeck was the preferred candidate of many Greens to run for chancellor, but had to let Annalena Baerbock (Greens) go first – because she is a woman.
Only 9 months, now 5 months – the need to use a booster is becoming more and more evident
He also spoke out in favor of rapid booster vaccinations, the safety of which there have so far been little or no studies. Studies and investigations are only just beginning, but politicians’ recommendations are regularly made even without a medical basis. A few days ago, Markus Söder recommended that a booster vaccination be compulsory after 9 months. “One should consider whether the vaccinated status is no longer valid after nine months”, he said only at the beginning of the week.
But already on Sunday, just a few days later, this statement no longer applies. “We recommend boosting after five months”, Söder said on Sunday at a press conference. It remains unclear on the basis of which studies and medical data he made this recommendation and why, according to his recommendation, the period of validity of a vaccination was almost halved within just a few days.
New coercive measures for Bavaria from Tuesday – but Söder wants more
The Franconian also spoke out in favor of maximum personal limits at events and named football games as examples. There was also agreement with the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU), as Söder explained. A strict 2G regime also applies in Saxony, in which unvaccinated people actually live without rights. From Tuesday, the Bavarian corona compulsory measures will be significantly tightened. Where previously 2G applied, the mask requirement was lifted.
Now masks are compulsory there again. Discos and clubs should only be accessible with 2G-Plus. So celebrants must be vaccinated or recovered and also tested negative. The access regulations to old people’s homes / nursing homes and daycare centers are also to be tightened by expanding the test requirement. “More is not legally possible in Bavaria,” said Söder. A sentence that lets you look deep. You could almost think he wanted more. But of course he didn’t say that.
