The People’s Republic’s 303-meter-long aircraft carrier “Liaoning” is cruising off Hong Kong, Chinese fighter jets are violating Taiwanese airspace: Beijing by no means lacks the self-confidence in the muscular muscles of the military superpowers.
The latest report from the US Department of Defense also confirms that China is now the largest sea power in the world. The armed forces command in Beijing already commands 355 aircraft carriers, combat ships, escort ships and submarines.
The Chinese naval forces are to be expanded further: By 2030, i.e. in nine years, the navy is to grow to 460 units, reports the “Jerusalem Post”.
The expansion of the aircraft carrier groups is to be carried out particularly intensively in Beijing, the experts in the US Defense Ministry analyzed: In December 2019, China’s navy was able to put into service the first aircraft carrier built in its own country, the “Shandong”. In addition to the Russian-based “Liaoning”, the Chinese Navy will be able to operate with its next aircraft carrier in 2024, writes “Navalnews.com”.
China’s sea power is then to be organized into three fleets: in the north, in the south and in the east. The submarine squadrons are also subordinated to these parts of the fleet.
Beijing also likes to show what you can get on the water with a lot of money – here is the “promotional video” for the aircraft carrier “Liaoning”:
