A 56-year-old Serb gave his wife deep cuts on the neck on Saturday lunchtime. When the 24-year-old son stepped in, the violence between him and his father escalated. According to police spokesman Vernhjak, alcohol should not have been involved.
In the violent argument between the two men, the father cut off several of the son’s fingers with a knife. However, the son defended himself and bit off his father’s ear in the course of the argument. Pepper spray was also used. The violent confrontation only ended when the mother was able to flee to the neighbors, who called the police. All three were hospitalized, and the two men’s lost limbs could all be sewn back on. The mother fled to a neighbor who alerted the police. All three involved were taken to hospitals by the professional rescue service.
After the Serbian citizen’s ear was sewn back on, the police arrested him. He denied the act in an initial questioning. Initially, mother and son were unable to interrogate. A ban on entering and approaching the father, as well as a provisional gun ban, was pronounced against the father, and the 24-year-old son was also initially expected to be charged with serious bodily harm. It does not seem improbable, however, that this was a matter of self-defense.
