This was announced by the ninth in the Premier League on Tuesday. The former Chelsea champion succeeds Nuno Espirito Santo. The Londoners separated from the Portuguese on Monday after 17 games. The club lost 3-0 to Manchester United on Sunday – the third defeat in their last four games.
Conte had already been considered a Spurs candidate in the summer, but canceled after advanced negotiations. The reasons were not known. The Italian won the Serie A title with Inter last season and then left the Milanese. From 2016 to 2018 he was Chelsea coach. With the Blues, the former midfielder became English champion in 2017 and won the FA Cup in 2018. Shortly after the cup success, however, he was fired because Chelsea had missed the Champions League qualification.
Previously had Conte in three years as coach of Juventus Turin won the Italian championship three times and the cup title twice. From 2014 to 2016 he was the coach of the Italian national team.
