The English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur has released coach Nuno Espirito Santo after only ten rounds. The Champions League finalist of 2019 thus drew the consequences of the weak start to the season. With 15 points, the Spurs can only be found in eighth place in the table. On Saturday there was a 3-0 defeat (the fifth defeat en suite) against the also troubled record champions Manchester United. A successor is not yet known.
The Portuguese Espirito Santo – previously successfully coached by Wolverhampton Wanderers – had only taken over as coach at Spurs at the beginning of the season. Last season, star coach Jose Mourinho had to leave the club around striker Harry Kane early.
