Was it actually necessary investigative activity by the judiciary – or was it “a political assassination” on the ex-Chancellor and his closest colleagues, based on the example and script as the Ibiza video state affair?
This video coup – or rather the hysteria it generated – overthrew a bourgeois-right federal government in May 2019 and cost FPÖ boss Heinz-Christian Strache the vice-chancellor job and all of us due to the subsequent month-long standstill and due to the additional options a lot of money.
When researching the case of “Beinschab surveys”, in which the Economic and Corruption Public Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA) also lists ÖVP boss Sebastian Kurz as an accused, some facts are now apparent that are irritating. These research results from eu-infothek.com and eXXpress, as well as the complaint of the legal protection officer for Justice Minister Alma Zadic (Greens), should be reason enough to initiate an internal review of the latest actions of the WKStA.
Who lives with whom: A close relationship between the senior public prosecutor A., who is active in the investigation against Sebastian Kurz, and the economic expert B., who is supposed to view all the chats from the mobile phone of the ex-ÖBAG board member Thomas Schmid and select them for the investigation, is now evident. The partnership is proven, both live at the same address in a small town in Lower Austria. There is evidence on social media too.
Lawyers consider it “not realistic” that expert B. selects as many chat passages as possible that would exonerate the accused: After all – for the young woman the presumption of innocence applies – such an approach would greatly reduce the chances of success of the authority of her partner. This compliance issue alone should be a reason for Zadic to take action.
Who lives where: Just 1,500 meters as the crow flies and 2.29 kilometers on the Gemeindestraße away from the chief public prosecutor and the economic expert, “Falter” editor-in-chief Florian Klenk lives in a small municipality in Lower Austria. Klenk was already heavily involved in the preparation for the distribution of the Ibiza video in May 2019.
What is particularly irritating when researching Klenk and his role in the media dissemination of the current political thriller about ex-Chancellor Kurz: The “Falter” co-owner claims on Twitter that it is not chief prosecutor A., but his colleague P. “the responsible Prosecutor for the chats ”.
But now the eXXpress has the unredacted house search order with the number 1683. Everyone can read on the cover sheet who is the clerk in the chat affair: Senior Public Prosecutor A. AND Senior Public Prosecutor P. and Public Prosecutor K. Should the public be deliberately deceived?
Who works where: The business expert B., who now lives with senior public prosecutor A., still officially has her office at the Vienna address where her ex-husband’s company is also located. The ex-husband of the woman who is supposed to evaluate all digital material from Thomas Schmid’s mobile phone runs an “agency for digital communication” there.
This brings up the next question for Alma Zadic: Can the minister rule out the possibility that top secret internal government matters may reach unauthorized persons via this office connection?
Who sends what: The case recently uncovered by the Salzburg plagiarism hunter Stefan Weber, eu-infothek.com and eXXpress showed how carelessly explosive data material has already been handled. “Falter” editor-in-chief Florian Klenk even distributed unsecured files with the highly explosive chats from the political crime thriller via the unsecured WhatsApp news service.
Alma Zadic needs urgent action to activate the internal audit. Any further hesitation to start a complete processing of all the allegations in the room puts a strain on the reputation of the minister and the entire economic and corruption prosecutor’s office.
