The Republican governed Florida is now legally defending itself against the mandatory vaccination ordered by the Biden administration. Nobody should have to choose between a vaccination and work. Governor DeSantis takes on Washington DC.
The state of Florida has filed a lawsuit against the Biden government. The aim is to challenge their federal regulation, which prescribes compulsory Covid-19 vaccinations for all employees in companies with government contracts. This is what Governor Ron DeSantis said on Thursday.
“We will … take legal action today. The state of Florida has filed another lawsuit against the Biden administration to challenge federal vaccination ordinanceDeSantis said at a US televised press conference yesterday. “It is not right that the federal government prescribes these contracts and tries to push things into them.”
DeSantis stated that a lawsuit has been filed in Tampa, Florida and the state government is seeking an injunction to stop the process.
Exceeding the authority
“That’s not the way business should be done: we don’t think they have the authority to do this. … The lawsuit has been filed in the Tampa Department, we’re going to get an injunction. The mandate exceeds the powers of the current government under federal law and the constitution“, he said.
Attorney General Ashley Moody added that it is not the job of the federal government to make vaccines mandatory. She said that she had “absolutely no right, absolutely none” to do this. Moody said the mandate was a total and gross violation of the federal government’s personal autonomy for U.S. workers.
The lawsuit is also reportedly directed against NASA and NASA administrator Bill Nelson. The Pentagon and several White House officials from the Office of Management and Budget are also being sued over the Covid-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors.
According to DeSantis, NASA, whose primary launch site is the Kennedy Space Center on Florida’s central Atlantic coast, “is and will continue to impose the illegal requirements of the Biden Administration on Florida.”
Illegal and unscientific regulations
In the lawsuit first from Fox News published, it lists NASA’s “frequent contracts” and “current contractual relationships” with Florida.
“As the government’s illegal vaccination request is aimed at undermining Florida’s employment policies and threatening Florida with economic damage and the loss of federal contracts, the state is seeking legal assistance from this court,” the lawsuit said. The strong federal system in the United States enables such lawsuits. This also ensures a better balance between the municipalities and states, as well as the federal government.
the Daily Mail quoted a DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw as saying, “Governor DeSantis is committed to protecting the jobs of Floridians, including those who work for federal contractors. Nobody should have to choose between vaccination and a job, or give up physical autonomy due to illegal and unscientific regulations“.
The lawsuit follows an order signed by US President Joe Biden this summer. Accordingly, all employees of the executive branch should be vaccinated against the corona virus. The US president has also signed an order that makes vaccination compulsory for companies with more than 100 employees. However, resistance to the compulsory vaccination is growing rapidly. Above all, the general feeling of freedom of the Americans is reluctant.
