Shortly after the end of her career as minister, Karmasin acted as co-founder of an IHS-owned competence center for behavioral economics, “Insight Austria”. The center was founded in 2018 by the then IHS head and now Minister of Labor Martin Kocher. Until a few days ago, Karmasin appeared on the website of “Insight Austria” as a consultant.
Karmasin is a co-accused in the corruption case around Sebastian Kurz – the presumption of innocence applies. The chat revelations suggest that a group of confidants around Kurz may have been involved in Karmasin’s involvement with “Insight Austria”. “I have to ask you something about IHS”, wrote Karmasin around 2018 to short confidante Thomas Schmid. Other chats (not related to Karmasin) show how Schmid tried again and again to put pressure on the IHS. Karmasin did not respond to a profile request about the IHS cause.
