The first chance of the game went to the guests from Wattens. Thomas Sabitzer appeared after a mistake in the Admira defense alone in front of the goal, but overtook both Admira keeper Andreas Leitner and the home side. In the 22nd minute Sabitzer found his master in Leitner, ten minutes later Denis Tomic missed the target.
The Admira also came promisingly into the opposing penalty area every now and then, for example in the 37th minute when WSG goalkeeper Benjamin Ozegovic tamed a deal from Marco Hausjell and Marlon Mustapha knocked the margin far over the bar. Ozegovic was in goal for the regular goalkeeper Ferdinand Oswald, who was suffering from a knee injury.
In the second half, the Tyroleans were initially more dangerous. A header from Sabitzer in the 51st minute missed, a few seconds later the cousin of Bayern professional Marcel Sabitzer headed into Leitner’s arms. In the 65th minute, the substitute Vrioni had already prevailed against Leitner, but could not maneuver the ball into the goal when it fell.
Only towards the end of the game did Admira become more active again – Mustapha performed a remarkable solo, but his shot was not a real problem for Ozegovic (80th). The decisive scene followed in the 90th minute. Vrioni was put in the penalty area by Yanick Brugger, and the “Joker” used the penalty awarded for it.
