Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) will “advise the next steps” on Friday evening at a video conference with Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) and the state governors. On the one hand, the government wants to encourage more people to vaccinate than before. On the other hand, it seems that the situation will be tightened again. Only on Thursday did Schallenberg complain that Austria was now slipping into a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” without any need, despite having enough vaccines. After Salzburg, Lower Austria and Upper Austria were also turned red on the Corona traffic light. There are exit controls in several municipalities. Some experts now suspect that the increasing number of infections will soon make itself felt in the intensive care units.

Health Minister Mückstein hopes that the introduction of the 3G obligation in the workplace will have an effect. Unvaccinated people will then have to worry more about valid tests.
