At the end of September, the German financial services platform FINOM published a ranking of cities worldwide that offer the best opportunities and offers in the field of innovation. The study divided the innovation landscape into different areas, including research and development, start-up activities and financing options, and looked at innovations at the individual industry level, for example in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology and financial innovations (fintech).
Vienna took the best place with 39th place in the field of financial technology and financial innovations. 200 cities worldwide were rated in 19 different categories. In the overall ranking, Vienna comes in 73rd place with a total score of 52.98 out of 100. San Francisco took first place with 100 points, followed by Beijing (91.1) and New York (90.7). After that, nothing comes for a long time until London takes fourth place (78.5).
In addition to Fintech, Vienna was also able to achieve a good ranking in the “Unfourts” and “Biotechnological Innovations” categories. The Austrian capital is also one of the top 50 in the “IT & Software Development” category and ranks 48th.
