At least 15 people were killed in an explosion during Friday prayers in a mosque in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan, and 31 others were injured. Press photos on social media showed numerous people who were apparently dead or seriously injured on the blood-smeared floor of the Shiite mosque. There are no further details yet.

Just a few days ago, dozens of people were killed in an attack on a mosque in the northern Afghan city of Kunduz. The radical Islamic militia Islamic State (IS) had claimed the act for itself.

A radical Islamic Taliban police chief was killed in a car bomb attack in Kunar province on Thursday. Nobody has yet confessed to the attack.
