The suspected killers from Horn-Bad Meinberg in North Rhine-Westphalia are a German-Turk (14), a Russian and a Turk (both 15). The three attacked the homeless man in a meadow in a park next to Amselweg – a quiet residential street. It is a meeting place for homeless people near Netto Bazaar.
The boys – two of whom have been known to police for a long time – beat their helpless victim with their fists. They then stabbed the homeless man and fled. One of the young criminals filmed the brutal act on his cell phone and shared the content with other users on the Internet. In the video he claimed to have killed a “crook”.
A witness contacted the police just hours after the crime. He was one of the first to receive the video, recognized the youth and put investigators on the right track. The police arrested two older teenagers. The Russian and Turk confessed to the murder and stabbed their comrades. Eventually a 14-year-old German-Turk was also arrested. Prosecutor Alexander Gorlitz: “A knife was seized from the suspects. “Further investigation should determine whether this is the murder weapon.”
The Detmold public prosecutor’s office has requested pre-trial detention for the three, and a judge is expected to rule on it on Friday. The motive for the homeless murder is still unclear, with police looking for other witnesses.
